Family Resource Library

The Family Resource Library was founded on the premise that the family plays a central role during a major illness or disability.  In working with the health care team, an informed family is a stronger partner in the care and planning for their child.

The library is a centralized resource for Children's Hospital of New Mexico. Families are referred to the library from the various hospital units, clinics and Health Science Center departments.  We also service practicing physicians, school nurses and other medical institutions from around the state.

Topics Covered:

  • Information about specific diseases
  • Coping with hospitalization
  • Living with chronic illness or disability
  • Normal growth and development
  • Family Relations

Resources Include:

  • Videotapes (non-circulating)
  • Books (non-circulating)
  • Pamphlets (given to families)
  • A file of organizations and support groups
