What is the UNM Health Sciences Center?
The UNM Health Sciences Center is a health system affiliated with the UNM School of Medicine and UNM Hospitals, all located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The system includes a physician practice of more than 130 doctors including primary care physicians, specialists, and sub-specialists with over 30 primary care and multi-specialty health care centers located throughout the city.  In Albuquerque, HSC also encompasses 5 hospitals and numerous center and programs.  There are also over 49 School of Medicine patient care sites and 34 HSC Clinical Facilities patient care sites located throughout the New Mexico region.

What is the relationship between the UNM School of Medicine and UNM HSC?
The UNM School of Medicine is the academic foundation of the UNM Health Sciences Center.  Since 1964, the UNM School of Medicine has maintained a firm commitment to serve the communities within New Mexico and the surrounding region, has been at the forefront of medical knowledge and research, pioneering many advances and procedures that have changed the face of medical history.  The physicians at the UNM HSC also serve as faculty members of the School of Medicine.  In addition, the continuing research conduced by the medical students, fellows and faculty of the university assures that UNM HSC is equipped with the latest innovations in treatment at all of its hospitals and centers.

What are the conditions and treatments in which UNM Health Sciences Center specializes?
The UNM Health Sciences Center provides treatment for a complete range of conditions, as well as actively promoting health education about disease prevention.  The physicians at the HSC represent a broad spectrum of specialty areas and primary care. The University Hospital's unique special care units and medical programs include the following:

How can a patient be admitted or transferred to a UNM HCS hospital?
Patients may be admitted to a UNM HSC Hospital by either consulting with their current physician or seeing a UNM HSC physician.  These physicians all have admitting privileges to UNM HSC hospitals.

What do I do if I have insurance or billing related issues?

I live outside Albuquerque.   Does UNM provide services or facilities in other communities?
