Physical Therapy (Inpatient and Outpatient)
Physical Therapy is the health profession that treats pain in muscles, nerves, joints, and bones with exercise, manual therapy, electrical stimulation, hydrotherapy, heat, cold and other modalities.
Patients admitted to the hospital are seen by Physical Therapists to improve functional activities such as bed mobility, transfers from one piece of furniture to another, gait training as well as for deconditioning and wound care. A written prescription from a Physician is needed to receive Physical Therapy
Patients in an outpatient setting work with PT's to address:
- Strength, endurance, coordination, balance, range of motion
- Postural and musculoskeletal dysfunctions
- Wound care
- Functional mobility
- Lower extremity prosthetics and orthotics
- Neuromotor development and sensory integration
- Patient and family education for all of the above areas
