The Interpreter Language Services Program (ILS) at UNM Hospitals provides professional medical Interpreters to limited-English-proficient and hearing-impaired patients. On-site Interpreters facilitate communication between providers and patients, family and visitors. Interpreters are available for clinic visits to interpret and translate for all medical encounters.
Our Interpreters and Translators have met all the qualifications for both written and oral American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages test. All Interpreters have successfully completed a professional training program for Medical Interpreters.
Our mission is to provide quality service by decreasing barriers to health care for limited-English-proficient and hearing-impaired patients who receive their care at UNM Hospitals.
