Medical/Cardiac ICU
Medical/Cardiac ICU is a 24-bed multidisciplinary unit that provides care to a wide range of patients with serious medical, cardiac, and cardiac/surgical disorders or complications requiring the highest level of monitoring and treatment. Our team uses advanced technologies such as Swan-Ganz, Flo-Trac, ScVO2 monitoring, CRRT, IABP, and ECMO to treat and monitor diseases such as:
- Acute Coronary Syndrome
- ARDS
- Cardiac Surgery (CABG, valve repairs)
- Diabetic Emergencies
- Drug Overdose
- GI Bleed
- Hanta Virus
- Multi-system Organ Failure
- Renal Failure
- Respiratory Diseases
- Sepsis
In addition to providing state of the art care, the MCICU staff actively works on the development and implementation of protocols and guidelines according to national standards and evidenced-based practice.
The Medical/Cardiac ICU staff delivers uncompromised care in an environment of clinical excellence, collaboration, diversity, teamwork, and mutual respect.
MCICU currently has 2 active Shared Governance Councils: the Unit/Community Service Council and the Clinical/Education/Research Council. Both councils are each shared by a staff nurse. In addition to the councils, the unit also has the End-of-Life Care Task Force specializing in providing patients and their family guidance and care.
