General Medicine (5 West)
The General Medicine Unit takes care of the patient with a complicated medicine diagnosis. Nurses on the unit are experts in the care of: Cystic Fibrosis, Renal Disease, Liver Disease, Diabetes, TB, and HIV/AIDS patients and provide significant care to ensure optimal health is restored.
5 West is a teaching unit and has students four days a week every week. The 5 West unit nurses are imperative in educating the next generation of health care givers. Recently, 5 West piloted a Dedicated Education Unit that enables students to receive the best clinical education possible. Nursing understands that students need good guidance and friendly faces when doing clinical rotations.
The unit is well rounded with seasoned nurses as well as graduate nurses. The nursing and ancillary staff collaborate together to maintain quality care for each and every patient.
