Dialysis Program
Dialysis is never an easy process. The acute inpatient dialysis unit understands this and provides hemodialysis to both adult and pediatric patients throughout the hospital when they are admitted for any reason in the most efficient and caring manner. This unit has 6 dialysis bays where patients are seen Monday through Saturday. In addition, bedside dialysis is available for patients in the adult and pediatric ICUs. Dialysis nurses also provide peritoneal dialysis services at the bedside whenever a patient is admitted to the hospital. Emergent dialysis is available after hours and on Sundays providing around the clock care.
The pediatric dialysis program is located in the Children's Hospital on the 6th floor. Here, services are provided to pediatric outpatients who receive dialysis three times a week for chronic hemodialysis. The program also has a full time peritoneal dialysis nurse that provides training for peritoneal dialysis and oversees continued care of pediatric patients who are on home peritoneal dialysis. Patients can expect to receive the best quality care from an interdisciplinary team of registered nurses, a social worker, dietician and the attending physicians.
