Children's Miracle Network is an alliance of premier hospitals for children dedicated to helping kids by raising funds
for 170 children's hospitals across North America. UNM Children's Hospital is proud to affiliate itself with Children's
Miracle Network. Since the initial founding in 1983, Children's Miracle Network has raised over $2.2 billion for
hospitals across the United States and Canada. It started out as a small televised fundraiser and has become one of
the world's leading children's charities.
The hospitals affiliated with Children's Miracle Network not only provide the finest care to children, but they also participate in research and community outreach to touch millions of children suffering from diseases and injuries of every kind.
Many sponsors have adopted Children's Miracle Network as their charity of choice and thus UNM Children's Hospital benefits. What that means is that companies in the New Mexico and Southern Colorado raise money for the support of the hospital and the 57,000 children we care for.
What is so unique about Children's Miracle Network is that a majority of the fundraising that takes place is raised a few dollars at a time. For example, you might walk into a store and when you check out the cashier will ask you if you would like to buy a Miracle Balloon. That paper Miracle Balloon you buy will benefit your local Children's Miracle Network hospital, UNM Children's Hospital.
There are also hundreds of other events that take place throughout the year. From golf tournaments to hot dog and hamburger sales hundreds of sponsors and individuals are donating their time and energy to raise money for UNM Children's Hospital through Children's Miracle Network.
Local events such as the UNM Children's Hospital annual Radiothon held in April and the Change Bandit (sign up response form) program are both Children's Miracle Network programs that are run by the staff at UNM Children's Hospital.
All funds raised through the Children's Miracle Network program at UNM Children's Hospital are unrestricted meaning that the donated funds are used where the hospital needs it the most. These funds are primarily used for the purchase of medical equipment and funding programs at UNM Children's Hospitals.
So, when you see the name Children's Miracle Network or a Miracle Balloon icon in a store in the state of New Mexico and parts of Southern Colorado, that company is supporting and raising funds for UNM Children's Hospital. Be sure to buy a balloon or hot dog because it is supporting the health of children right here in New Mexico.
