Liver Clinic
At the Center for Digestive Disease Liver clinic, we specialize in the treatment of patients with the full range of liver diseases. Dr. Joseph Alcorn, the director of liver diseases program, has over 25 years of experience in treating liver disease. He has published extensively in research related to liver injury. Dr. Trent Taylor, who recently joined the UNM faculty has specialized expertise in the treatment of viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver cancer, autoimmune hepatitis, and evaluation of abnormal liver tests. Our experts see patients referred from physicians throughout the state of New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and Arizona for complex liver diseases. Working closely with UNM faculty in the departments of surgery, interventional radiology and pathology, we offer an advanced multidisciplinary approach to the evaluation and treatment of liver disease. Together with our full-time liver transplantation coordinator, Dollie Apodaca, we assist patients in the complex process of evaluation and referral for liver transplantation and the care of the post-transplant patient.
