Pediatric Pulmonology sees patients with any pediatric respiratory problems including cystic fibrosis, asthma, neuromuscular diseases, pediatric rheumatologic diseases, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, ventilator dependence, tracheostomy dependence, sleep disorders, bronchiectasis, and chronic lung disease. We do airway evaluations via bronchoscopy and have full pulmonary function facilities. The UNM Sleep Center is accredited for pediatric sleep studies. The pediatric cystic fibrosis clinic is the only Cystic Fibrosis Foundation accredited center in New Mexico.
- Pediatric CF patients are seen at the Carrie Tingley Outpatient Clinic on Monday mornings.
- All other patients are seen in the Pediatric Specialty Clinic on the 3rd floor of the Ambulatory Care Center and UNMH.
- General Pediatric Pulmonary Clinics are held on Monday mornings, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
- Vent / Trach Clinics are held twice a month.
All patients are seen by an interdisciplinary team, if needed, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, nursing, social work, and nutrition. Patients with asthma may also be seen in UNM/CMS asthma outreach clinics held throughout the state.
