The Pediatric Emergency Department has been providing specialized, compassionate, family centered pediatric emergency services for ill or injured children in New Mexico and the Southwest since 1994 at UNMH.
Attending physicians from the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine are trained in both pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine and work with a team of dedicated, nurses, technicians and ancillary staff in the Pediatric Emergency Department. Together and in conjunction with a host of in house pediatric specialties, they provide specialized emergency services with in depth diagnosis and treatment for children. Care is provided in a child friendly environment with staff sensitive to the age appropriate physical, developmental and psycho-logical needs of children at all age levels to 18 years.
New pediatric inpatient units, along with 6 new pediatric operating rooms in the Barbara and Bill Richardson Pavilion and already existing specialty clinics and urgent care services complete a full spectrum of services available for children at UNM Children's Hospital.
