In order for the Treatment Team to get to know our patients and their treatment needs, visiting will be restricted for the first 24 hours.   Children under the age of 14 are not permitted to visit on the unit. Visiting hours are:

Visitors are asked not to bring anything onto the units without checking with the nursing staff. Sharp objects and items with strings are not permitted on the units.  The staff must inventory all items.  Each unit has a phone available to patients.  Patients are asked to limit their calls to less than 10 minutes out of consideration to others.

Phone calls are limited to 10 minutes as a courtesy to other patients.  Phone privileges may be restricted for patients who abuse phone rules or become inappropriate while using telephone.

UNM Psychiatric Center is a smoke free facility.  Smoking is allowed only on the outside patios at scheduled times.  Smoke breaks are considered a privilege for maintaining appropriate behavior while on the unit including participation in groups and activities.
