UNM Psychiatric Center About Us
The University of New Mexico Hospitals Behavioral Health Programs is a public
not-for-profit facility, providing a full spectrum of care for those citizens of
Bernalillo County and surrounding counties in the academic setting.
The Psychiatric Center was established in 1967, and the Children Psychiatric
Center, based on funds appropriated by the State Legislature was constructed in 1978.
Our hospital facilities also known as the Health Sciences Center of the University
of New Mexico, assists us in proving practitioner services from the Department of Psychiatry.
University Hospital's Behavioral Health Services is currently the largest community
mental health provider in the state of New Mexico.
