Maternity & Infant Care

The New Mexico Maternity & Infant (M&I) Care Program was created in 1969 to provide high-quality medical care to women and infants in their own neighborhoods.

The M&I Care Program has played a vital role in providing healthcare to mothers and babies delivered at University Hospital and elsewhere, as well as reducing their perinatal mortality rate.  In addition, providing family planning services has allowed clients to make informed decisions and control their family size.  Well Woman services allow women to receive necessary preventive care such as Pap smears.

The services provided by the M & I program are:

  • Well Woman Care/Annual checkups
  • Prenatal care for expecting mothers
  • Family planning to help patients make informed decisions and control the size of their families

Referrals are made to specialty and primary care clinics for services not provided by M&I

The Program encompasses Bernalillo County and nearby communities in Sandoval and Valencia Counties.  Anyone living in these areas is eligible for outpatient services.
