UNM Children's Hospital
Patient Services

At UNMCH there are many programs and special care units available to fit your child's needs. Your child and family will be assisted through the admission and discharge process.


Babies Ear Temperature

Children's Hospital Heart Center: CHHC provides service to children with heart disease and their families.

Extended Care Nursery: ECN provides care for infants with long term care needs in a family focused setting.

Intermediate Care Nursery: ICN cares for recovering newborns and babies needing continuous observation.  We provide patient/family education, discharge planning and follow-up care.

Mariposa Program: A Pediatric Hospice that offers comprehensive compassionate care for infants, children, and adolescents with life limiting conditions.

Newborn Intensive Care Unit: NBICU provides care for premature and critically ill newborns and their families.

Newborn Nursery: The Newborn Nursery cares for infants and their families from birth to discharge.  Follow-up care services are also offered to newborns and their families for up to two weeks following discharge.

Pediatric Unit (PEDS): PEDS takes care of children who are sick or hurt and need to be in the hospital.  We teach them what will happen while they are here and prepare them to go home.  In PEDS, children recovering from more serious illnesses receive close observation and monitoring.

Pediatric Specialty Care Unit (PSCU): PSCU provides care for children with special needs.  In PSCU, children recovering from cancer and other serious illnesses receive close observation and monitoring.

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU): PICU provides care for children who are critically ill, seriously injured or have had major surgery.

Pediatric Clinics: The Pediatric Clinic provides urgent, primary and specialty care for New Mexico's children.

Young Children's Health Center (YCHC): YCHC is located in East Central Albuquerque at 306A San Pablo SE.  They may be reached at (505)272-9242. YCHC provides urgent and primary care, mental health assessments, and social services including counseling and case management.
