Meet M. Beth Goens, MD

Dr. Goens received her MD Degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She
completed both her residency training in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at
the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She did a postdoctoral fellowship in
Molecular Cardiology at the National Institutes of Health - National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
She did additional clinical training in echocardiography, specializing in fetal diagnosis and
research applications of echocardiography at the Children's National Medical Center (CNMC) in
Washington, DC. She was an instructor on the faculty after completing her fellowship (7/95 -
2/96).
Before arriving in New Mexico, she was on the faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine,
Baltimore, Maryland (2/96 - 9/99). Dr. Goens is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric
Cardiology. She is an associate professor at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine,
Department of Pediatrics where she is interim chief of Pediatric Cardiology and the director of the
Pediatric Echocardiography Laboratory.
