Recognizing Signs of Sleepiness & Sleep Deprivation

Symptoms:
  • Dozing at the wheel while driving
  • Falling asleep while watching television or reading a book
  • Sleeping for extra long periods on weekends
  • Difficulty waking in morning
  • Irritable during the day
  • Falling asleep during quiet times of day
  • Caveat: Signs of insufficient sleep are not always obvious, especially in pre-adolescent children.  If in doubt, consult the child's healthcare provider.
