Nursing Education

Clinical Educators

Clinical Educators assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate clinical and non-clinical educational programs for HSC Operational Components that enhance practice by ensuring a professional standard of care and ensuring patient safety. Instructional programs are based on established educational plans, taking into account policies and procedures and quality indicators. Clinical Educators utilize the nursing process to develop and deliver programs that meet Continuing Education Units requirements for different disciplines. Clinical Educators also serve as an educational resource and role model for clinicians. Furthermore, they establish and monitor accurate outcomes for educational programs developed and revise these programs when deemed necessary. A continued goal of the department is courses to prepare staff for national certification as well.

The Clinical Education Department has Clinical Educators working in the following specialty areas: Medical Surgical Services, Cardiopulmonary Critical Care, Surgical Services, Neuroscience, Trauma and Emergency Services, Women’s Health, Perinatal Nursing, Neonatal Nursing, Pediatrics and Pediatric Oncology, Hospital-wide Patient Safety Initiatives, and Nurse Technician and Health Unit Clerk Educational Services.
