All of us, at least once in our lives, have been lost in the meandering and confusing halls of a public
building. Hospitals tend to be the most difficult of all to navigate, not only because their floor
plans are often complex, but also because when we come to a hospital, we have a lot on our minds: concerns
about sick or injured family members, anxieties about surgical procedures and medical tests, fears about what
may lie ahead. At these stressful times, we need clear directions and signs to help us find our way.
Patients and visitors to UNM Hospital's new Barbara and Bill Richardson Pavilion will have no problem
navigating through the building thanks to clear, vibrant icons that tap into New Mexico's rich cultural
heritage. These colorful icons represent paths and journeys through the Pavilion -- and through life
itself.
You are invited to purchase one or more of these icons. Text on the icons will recognize your
contribution or you may choose to honor the memory of someone you love.
