UNM Carrie Tingley Hospital Receives Highest Level of
Accreditation
UNMCTH's Orthotics & Prosthetics Department at the University of New Mexico
Health Sciences Center (UNM HSC) proudly announces a three-year accreditation award
in orthotics and prosthetics by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics
and Prosthetics, Inc (ABC). Carrie Tingley Hospital's orthotic and prosthetic
departments were recognized for achievement in the areas of Organizational Management,
Professional Staffing Qualifications and Responsibilities, Patient Care Management,
Quality Assurance, and Facility and Safety Management. This award represents
the highest level of accreditation achievable in the profession of orthotics and
prosthetics.
Barbara Ohm, executive director for Carrie Tingley Hospital said she was proud of
the orthotics and prosthetics departments' three-year accreditation award. This
achievement exemplifies the dedication of Carrie Tingley Hospital staff to providing
premium health care for New Mexican children and adolescents.
Deputy Executive Director of the ABC Catherine Carter said that the orthotics and
prosthetics departments at Carrie Tingley Hospital have demonstrated a commitment to the
provision of quality patient care services by seeking and attaining ABC accreditation.
The ABC has developed the highest standards for accreditation in the industry and
is proud to include Carrie Tingley Hospital among its accreditation recipients.
The American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc, has been
credentialing practitioners and organizations since 1948 in accordance with established
standards of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient care. A not-for-profit
organization headquartered in Alexandria, Va, the ABC's mission is to encourage and promote
the highest standards of professionalism in the delivery of orthotic and prosthetic services.
Carrie Tingley Hospital has been offering orthotics and prosthetic services in New Mexico
since 1937 and in Albuquerque since 1981. Carrie Tingley has a legacy of over sixty
years of commitment to New Mexico's children. Physicians and staff provide responsive,
caring and coordinated healthcare services to children and adolescents with complex
musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, rehabilitation needs, developmental issues and
long-term physical disabilities.
